Hamburg (Germany), 14 October 2025 - EURONICS Deutschland eG, one of Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailers, has successfully implemented ZetesMedea ImageID to optimise order fulfilment at its logistics centre in Ditzingen. This Machine Vision solution instantly captures and decodes multiple barcodes, serial numbers, and IMEI numbers, enhancing efficiency, reducing errors, and speeding up dispatch times.

Faster and more precise scanning

Machine Vision technologyFrom the logistics centre in Ditzingen, around 1,200 retailers across Germany receive supplies, with roughly 2,500 packages handled each day. The small parts warehouse, which stores items like smartphones, headphones, USB sticks, and similar products, dispatches 1,000 parcels containing about 7,000 items daily.

Once items are picked, they are brought to one of fourteen packing tables, where each product is scanned to synchronise with the order data before being packed and labelled for shipping. Scanning smartphones is particularly demanding, as both the model name and the serial and IMEI numbers must be captured from very small labels, some just 25 mm high. The process is even more complex for dual-SIM smartphones, which have two IMEI numbers, though only one needs to be scanned.

Processing time reduced by 10 to 15%

The existing process was slow and prone to errors. By integrating ZetesMedea ImageID, EURONICS now benefits from faster and more accurate scanning, resulting in a 10 to 15% reduction in processing times. The system captures up to 30 items in three to four seconds, significantly improving the packing process. If any errors or discrepancies occur, a red signal lamp lights up and the relevant order is highlighted in red on the control monitor. Conversely, when everything is correct, the items are marked green and the signal lamp turns green. "The system enables anyone to scan efficiently, streamlining personnel planning during busy times", said Karsten Esbach, Logistics Manager at EURONICS.

Seamless SAP-Integration

“The solution compares the scanned information with the order data stored in SAP and checks whether the scanned item is part of the order and verifies that the quantities are correct. The seamless integration with SAP has been crucial for our success", said Daniela Keim, SAP Logistics Expert at EURONICS.

Real-Time Verification for Quality Assurance

The photos of the recorded items, along with their serial and IMEI numbers, are also stored in a database for quality assurance purposes. Thanks to the seamless photo documentation provided by ZetesMedea ImageID, EURONICS can always prove that the item was not damaged on the outside at the time of dispatch in the case of subsequent reclamations. Last but not least, the entire scanning process is carried out with consistently high quality.
