  • Seachill and Zetes win coveted first prize in Materials Handling Equipment and Technology category
  • Project allowed Seachill to ensure 100% shipping accuracy, shorter lead times and achieve ASN (Advance Ship Notice) compliance.
  • Achieved using Zetes’ Visidot image capture solution

The CILT’s Annual Awards for Excellence are designed to promote and encourage best practice within logistics and transport.

To accommodate increased order demand from Tesco, Seachill’s largest customer – who also required full compliance with ASN – Seachill needed a solution, which allowed fully automated picking and dispatch processes. Working with Zetes, the company implemented the Visidot image capture solution. Capable of reading and analysing hundreds of barcodes in just seconds, Visidot delivered high performance in reducing errors and, hence, reducing claims.

Steve Wallace, IT Manager at Seachill who led the project said, “Getting an award like this validates all the hard work that everyone on the team put into improving our processes. No other company in our industry has invested in technology of this nature before and the impact of using Visidot played an important part in reducing overheads and improving customer service during what continues to be a challenging economic environment.”

Alain Wirtz, CEO of Zetes said: “We are pleased to receive this award together with Seachill, as it recognises the value both companies place on supply chain innovation. Zetes recently made the investment to add Visidot to its solution portfolio, because we strongly believed in the power of the technology and the profits it would bring to our customers, and Seachill has been one of the first companies to integrate it. We believe Visidot will gain importance in the near future as it allows companies to automate their supply chain, deliver better services and be more competitive - as shown at Seachill.”

Following a rebranding exercise, Zetes' vision technology is now called ImageID (formerly Visidot). All features and functionalities remain valid.
