Hamburg (Germany), 24 February 2026 – The Goldschmaus Group, one of Germany's leading meat producers, has optimised the quality control of palletised goods at its Garrel and Oldenburg sites with the ZetesMedea ImageID solution. The machine-vision solution captures and decodes barcodes from up to 128 boxes in just a few seconds and verifies the article and batch purity. This enables the agricultural co-operative to increase efficiency and achieve its zero-error goal.

Structured and tamper-proof

In Garrel alone, up to 8,400 pallets of frozen goods are dispatched each month, with every cutlet traceable back to the farmer. To achieve this, Goldschmaus relies on structured, tamper-proof processes to produce article- and batch-pure pallets with up to 128 boxes. The barcodes of all boxes must be scanned and compared with the data stored in their ERP. Simultaneously, the pallet is weighed, and the result is compared with the calculated weight. ZetesMedea ImageID has automated this formerly manual process.

“ZetesMedea ImageID has significantly improved the safety and quality of our control processes.” Dennis Burke, Managing Director at Goldschmaus Group

Automatic master label

Machine visionParallel to the scanning process, ZetesMedea ImageID determines the pallet weight and transmits it to the ERP along with all necessary information. After a few seconds, the graphically prepared result appears on the monitor. If everything is correct, a signal light turns green and ZetesMedea automatically generates a master label. After this is affixed to the pallet, it is ready for storage. If the light does not immediately turn green, it is often due to the pallet’s packing pattern. If the labels to be captured are not uniformly visible on the long side of the pallet, but also on the short side, the pallet must be turned 90 degrees on the turntable for a second scan so that all four sides are captured optically. Damaged or obscured labels are an error source, which can be displayed by ZetesMedea and then captured manually.

Three installations in total

"Zetes immediately understood what was important to us and presented us with a suitable solution," emphasises Goldschmaus’s Managing Director, Dennis Burke, adding: "ZetesMedea ImageID has significantly improved the safety and quality of our control processes. Tasks that previously required two or three employees can now be managed by just one, allowing us to use our personnel resources far more efficiently. As a result, the investment is expected to pay for itself in less than two years."

"Thanks to ZetesMedea, we have a tamper-proof process and have achieved our zero-defect goal. We are delighted with the overall result," Buddemeyer sums up. Goldschmaus now has three similar installations of ZetesMedea ImageID at its Garrel and Oldenburg sites. In addition to boxed goods, food-grade Euro-norm HDPE containers are scanned with it. These reusable pool crates have a separate code that is also read by ZetesMedea ImageID and linked to the product code.
